Classic Series 302 Telephone Black

Classic Series 302 Telephone

A classic telephone design by Wild &Wolf that simply plugs into a standard phone socket. Features push button dialling, redial button, ringer volume on/off switch, tone or pulse dialling and a volume control for the earpiece. Available in Red or Black finish.

The iconic type 302 phone was designed by the prolific industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss and introduced in 1937. He used ear to mouth measurements from 2000 people to create the egonomic handset. The first to incorporate the bell in the base of the unit, the phone was originally cast in metal. This piece was later produced using a heavy duty plastic housing. Its appearance, combined with a rugged construction, earned it the nickname The Cows Hoof because of its lipped hoof style base. This early desk version served as the standard for the better part of World War II while telephone design efforts were halted due to defense work. The series 302 is surely a conversation piece in any setting.

4 Stars “Retro look classic” — Floydee, London

“We bought one of these phones simply for the look (black model) and basic features. It does the job it is intended to do in this modern world of ours: receive calls and dial out. The ring is not imposing as you would expect from the original models and harks back to ye old phone ringing days. Only one ring tone, its a corded phone and so the handset is not mobile around the house, the receiver and base are solid and weighty (as like the original models). It fits in well with the look of our post war flat actually. We need nothing more for this phone and so it does the job well.
Each of my family has a mobile phone and hardly use our retro phone as we call it, thus when we get a call on it we ALL know its the house phone. In fact, could have probably got the red model to make it really stand out even more when we get a call on it! My only gripe is it that the finished could be more polished rather than a matted black. Anyone considering buying one of these phones would be going for a certain look and authoritative feel certainly not bells and whistles - and this phones does just that job !”
